Newsletter

Hello Everybody – I’m afraid I have to start this newsletter with some very sad news.
Our very dear friend and longstanding member Pat Butterworth has lost her long battle against cancer
and passed away on September 22nd

. Pat's funeral will be at Agecroft Cemetery on Wed 15th October at

11.40 and afterwards at Prestwich Cricket Club, off Heys Rd M25 1BZ

Bury Art Festival is taking place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th (next weekend) and many members
are taking part. Several of our members are giving workshops over the weekend at Bury Art Museum,
also at Greenmount Old School and Ramsbottom Civic Centre, almost all of which are sold out. For the
full list see https://www.eventbrite.com/o/bury-art-museum-84721990413
Nine members are having tables on Sunday at Greenmount Old School between 10am and 4pm to
display (and sell if they want) all kinds of their work – not just paintings but anything else arty or crafty
that they make. We also have one spare table if anyone would like to join us, please ask me for full
details.
We also have one table in the Museum on Saturday promoting BAS, it will have information about our
society and Gerry, Shyamal, and Kathy have very kindly agreed to look after it.
• If you have a (small to medium sized) artwork inspired by the BAS programme which you would
like to have displayed on the table, please can you bring it along to the session tomorrow (or on
Saturday morning but let me know you will do so). You could also bring a sketchbook if you don’t
mind people having a look through it.
The Mary Shaw People’s Prize will also be awarded on Saturday 11th at 3pm in Bury Art Museum to
the artist judged by the public to be their favourite. Lee Crocker, long-time supporter of BAS and one of
this year’s judges, has very kindly agreed to present the award.

*Important* Collection of Work from BAS exhibition
The collection period at the end of our exhibition is very short this year because it is quickly followed by
the Bury Open (of which, more below).
You must collect your work on either Wednesday 22nd October or Thursday 23rd October. If you cannot
collect your work in person you need to arrange for someone to do so on your behalf.

Open 2025
This is a wonderful opportunity for all members, particularly if you were not able to submit a picture to
our exhibition. It is both a prestigious exhibition and has a lengthy exhibition time.

Bury Art Museum’s second ever OPEN exhibition will show the best of the North West and be open to all
regional residents. You can submit up to 3 artworks per artist - £5 per entry.
