Secretary Bury Art Society

In case you missed it here is a letter from Judy, our secretary about this years winter challenge. For non members this is an example of one of our regular activities open to members.
 
Hi Everybody,
 
Last year we were privileged to be given permission to use images supplied by Bury Photographic Society (BPS) for our annual member's Winter Painting Challenge.  This year BPS have once again very kindly supplied us with some images for our Winter Painting Challenge 2026.  
 
There are however a great number of them.  To give you a little background, our collaboration with BPS also extended to judging their Teams event, both this year and last, when three of our members judged their photographs.  There were 80 photographs judged this year, and we have been given permission to use these for our Challenge.  While this is extremely generous, it is a lot to choose from and too many for me to be able to send out to you all.
 
Therefore, I have numbered the photographs from 1 to 80 and to take part in the Challenge give me three numbers and I will send you the corresponding three images. You may then use one, two, or all three images for inspiration for your Challenge picture.
 
  • Although you will be picking blind, I hope that at least one of the images you receive will inspire you.
  • You do not have to copy an image; they are for inspiration.
  • You can combine the images in any way in your work.
  • The Challenge evening will be held in the early spring at a date yet to be arranged.  It is usually early March.
  • You can tell me tonight which numbers you would like, or you can email me.
 
To keep it fair I will get someone to pick three random numbers for me!
